Mammoth Lakes, CA – June 21: A hiker on the Pacifc Crest Trail passes signs near Reds Meadow Resort & Pack Station, located at an elevation of 7,500 feet in Mammoth Lakes Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Reds Meadow is a popular stop for hikers to rest, shower and resupplying station near the the John Muir or Pacific Crest trails. It is just west of Mammoth Mountain, which is less than 10 miles away. The Reds business which closes down every winter — goes back to 1934 and its been owned by the Tanner family since 1960. The resort features a general store, the Mule House Café, and cabins to rent. Hikers can arrange a backcountry hike into the High Sierra, short horseback ride, or just a hot shower.
